79- And now, you claim that we, the people of the household (of the prophet), have no inheritance, no share!
|
وَ اَنْتُمُ الْآنَ تَزْعُمُونَ اَنْ لا إِرْثَ لَنا أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَ لا حَظَّ
|
|
80- Do you seek the judgment of the Jahiliyyah?” And who is better in judgment than Allah for a people who are certain [in faith]? Do you not know? Indeed, it has been made crystal clear to you, as the sun shining brightly, that I am his daughter
|
{أَفَحُكْمَ الْجاهِلِيَّةِ} تَبْغُونَ؟ {وَ مَنْ اَحْسَنُ مِنَ اللّهِ حُكْماً لِقَوْمٍ يُوقِنُونَ}. أَفَلا تَعْلَمُونَ؟! بَلىٰ، قَدْ تَجَلّىٰ لَكُمْ كَالشَّمْسِ الضّاحِيَةِ اَنِّى إِبْنَتُهُ
|
|
81- O assembly of Muslims, is my father’s inheritance to be forcibly taken from me?
|
إِيْهاً مَعْشَرَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ، أَ اُبْتَزُّ إِرْثَ أَبِى؟
|
|
82- O son of Abi Quhaafa, is it in the Book of Allah that you inherit your father, but I do not inherit my father? If so, “a strange thing have you brought!” (Maryam/27) You have boldly taken action to sever the ties of kinship and break the covenant! So, have you deliberately abandoned the Book of Allah and “thrown it behind your backs”? (Al-An’am/94)

يَابْنَ أَبِىقُحافَةَ، أَفِى كِتابِ اللّهِ اَنْ تَرِثَ اَباكَ وَ لا اَرِثَ أَبِى؟! لَقَدْ جِئْتَ {شَيْئاً فَرِيّاً}، جُرْأَةً مِنْكُمْ عَلىٰ قَطِيعَةِ الرَّحِمِ وَ نَكْثِ الْعَهْدِ! أَ فَعَلىٰ عَمْدٍ تَرَكْتُمْ كِتابَ اللّهِ وَ نَبَذْتُمُوهُ {وَراءَ ظُهُورِكُمْ}؟

|
83- When Allah, blessed and exalted be He, says, “And Solomon inherited David,”(An-Naml/16), along with what has been narrated about the story of Yahya and Zakariya, where Yahya said, “O Lord… So grant me from Yourself a successor who will inherit me and inherit from the family of Jacob”(Maryam/5-6), and Allah has said, ” And some of your relatives are to be preferred in the decree of Allah over the others( in inhertance) ” (Al-Anfal/75),and He has stated, “Allah instructs you concerning your children: for the male, what is equal to the share of two females” (An-Nisa/11), and He said, ” It is decreed that when death nears an individual, and he leaves behind wealth, he is obligated to make a bequest for his parents and close relatives in accordance with tradition. This responsibility rests upon the pious” (Al-Baqarah/180)
|
اِذْ يَقُولُ اللّهُ تَبارَكَ وَ تَعالىٰ: {وَ وَرِثَ سُلَيْمانُ داوُدَ}، مَعَ ما قَصَّ مِنْ خَبَرِ يَحْيىٰ وَ زَكَرِيّا اِذْ قالَ: {رَبِّ… فَهَبْ لِى مِنْ لَدُنْكَ وَلِيّاً يَرِثُنِى وَ يَرِثُ مِنْ آلِ يَعْقُوبَ}، وَ قالَ: {وَ اُولُوا الْاَرْحامِ بَعْضُهُمْ اَوْلىٰ بِبَعْضٍ فى كِتابِ اللّهِ}، وَ قالَ: {يُوصِيكُمُ اللّهُ فى اَوْلادِكُمْ لِلذَّكَرِ مِثْلُ حَظِّ الْأُنْثَيَيْنِ}، وَ قالَ: {اِنْ تَرَكَ خَيْراً الْوَصِيَّةُ لِلْوالِدَيْنِ وَ الْاَقْرَبِينَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ حَقّاً عَلَى الْمُتَّقِينَ}
|
|
84- So, you claimed that I have no right and no inheritance from my father, and no kinship between us!
|
فَزَعَمْتُمْ اَنْ لا حَظَّ لِى وَ لا إِرْثَ لِى مِنْ أَبِى وَ لا رَحِمَ بَيْنَنا
|
|
85- Does Allah grant you an exclusive right through a verse that excludes my father from it? or do you say that we are people of two religions and, as such, do not inherit from one another?
|
أَفَخَصَّكُمُ اللّهُ بِآيَةٍ اَخْرَجَ أَبِى مِنْها؟ أَمْ تَقُولُونَ أَهْلُ مِلَّتَيْنِ لايَتَوارَثُونَ؟
|
|
86- Am I and my father not of the same religion, or do you possess greater knowledge about the specifics and generalities of the Quran than my father and my cousin?
|
أَوَ لَسْتُ اَنَا وَ أَبِى مِنْ أَهْلِ مِلَّةٍ واحِدَةٍ؟ أَمْ اَنْتُمْ اَعْلَمُ بِخُصُوصِ الْقُرْآنِ وَ عُمُومِهِ مِنْ أَبِى وَ ابْنِ عَمِّى؟
|
|
87- (Now, since you do not return it) Then take this adorned and ready bridle, so it will be with you in the grave and will meet you on the day of your resurrection and dispersion
|
فَدُونَكَها مَخْطُومَةً مَرْحُولَةً مَزْمُومَةً، تَكُونُ مَعَكَ فى قَبْرِكَ وَ تَلْقاكَ يَوْمَ حَشْرِكَ وَ نَشْرِكَ
|
|
88- Then, behold the excellence of Allah’s judgment, the benevolence of Muhammad’s leadership, and the wondrous appointment of the Day of Judgment!
|
فَنِعْمَ الْحَكَمُ اللّهُ وَ الزَّعِيمُ مُحَمَّدٌ وَ الْمَوْعِدُ الْقِيامَةُ
|

89- After a brief period, remorse will embrace you, and on the Day of Resurrection, “the people of falsehood will indeed incur loss” (Al-Jathiya/27). Regret will seize you when it no longer serves any purpose. “For every event, there is a fixed time, and soon you will come to know” (Al-An’am/67), “whoever is visited with torment shall be humiliated, and for him, there is an enduring punishment” (Hud/39).

وَ عَمّا قَلِيلٍ تُؤْفَكُونَ وَ عِنْدَ السّاعَةِ {يَخْسَرُ الْمُبْطِلُونَ} وَ لايَنْفَعُكُمْ اِذْ تَنْدَمُونَ، {وَ لِكُلِّ نَبَإٍ مُسْتَقَرٌّ وَ سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ} {مَنْ يَأْتِيهِ عَذابٌ يُخْزِيهِ وَ يَحِلُّ عَلَيْهِ عَذابٌ مُقِيمٌ}
